Chihuly Garden and Glass Joins Seattle CityPASS Program

Chihuly Garden and Glass

SEATTLE [ ABN NEWS ] — Beginning March 1Chihuly Garden and Glass, Chihuly Garden and Glass will join the Seattle CityPASS® program, which saves travelers 49 percent off combined admission to five top Emerald City attractions. An exhibition of artwork created by artist Dale Chihuly, Chihuly Garden and Glass is located at the Seattle Center, which is home to three other CityPASS attractions: the Space Needle, EMP Museum and the Pacific Science Center.

Chihuly Garden and Glass is beautiful any time of day. But it perhaps feels most glamorous and otherworldly after dusk, when all of the outdoor glass installations are illuminated. The Glasshouse, one of the most stunning of the exhibition’s gallery and exhibit spaces and the centerpiece of the garden, is just as its name suggests: a glass-walled, glass-roofed building that showcases one of Chihuly’s largest suspended glass sculptures and provides views of such surrounding landscape elements as the Space Needle. The Glasshouse’s influx of natural light, which changes due to time of day and weather conditions, gives an ever-changing perception of the 100-foot-long sculpture’s palette of reds, oranges, yellows and amber.

Bordering the Glasshouse is a garden in which blown-glass installations sprout and bloom amongst living plants. Anchored by four monumental sculptures, the garden features paths lined with trees, plants and flowers. This is the setting for the pink-hued Viola Crystal Tower; the spiky, yellow-green Citron Icicle Tower; and a bed of slender “reeds” rising ethereally amidst ferns and pieces of weathered timber (Reeds on Logs). At the center of this lush landscape, on a bed of black mondo grass, is Pacific Sun, an explosion of yellow and orange glass tendrils 16 feet in diameter.

For bird’s-eye perspective on Chihuly’s vision, visit the neighboring Space Needle after dark and peer down at the Glasshouse and Garden. The Space Needle ticket included in each Seattle CityPASS ticket booklet allows two visits to the Space Needle’s observation deck within 24 hours. So, you can visit once during daylight hours and again after dusk.

As of March 1, the start of the program year, each 2015 Seattle CityPASS booklet will save visitors 49 percent off combined admission to the included attractions: Space Needle (two visits), Seattle Aquarium, Argosy Cruises Harbor Tour, a choice between EMP Museum and the Woodland Park Zoo, and a choice between the Pacific Science Center and Chihuly Garden and Glass.

Seattle CityPASS prices, starting March 1: $69 for adults (a value of $135.40); $49 for children, age 4-12. (Note: All prices are tax inclusive.) Ticket booklets can be purchased online at CityPASS.com or at any of the participating attractions. Ticket booklets are valid for nine consecutive days, beginning with the first day of use.
